Project Best Wichita Burger: Update #3

Slowly but surely Project Best Wichita Burger is coming along. While most people my age are having babies, raising kids, going to grad school, running their own companies, I am eating at 30 different burger restaurants and writing for a blog that probably attracts 12 readers. Ain’t life grand?

I’m officially over a third of the way to 30 and see no signs of stopping. I don’t plan my schedule at all around this project. If I feel like a burger, I call some friends up and go grab one. I live life on the fly and this works perfectly for it. I’ve slowly had to talk other friends into joining me on these adventures because I’m not sure any single one of my friends has the stupidity or lack of common sense to eat at 30 different burger places.

To all those people that know me, it’s time I lay some ground rules. Anybody who asks me “What’s been the best burger so far?” will always be answered with “Check out my blog when the results are released in late June/early July. Anybody who asks me, “How are you feeling after all those burgers?” will be answered with “Google ‘how does a person feel after 30 burgers’ and see what the results say”. For the record I have not done this and don’t intend to do so. And the last most popular question I’ve been getting, “Who do you have Mayweather or Pacquiao?”. My answer is “I think Mayweather is going to win but I’m rooting for Manny.”.

Open Wide Folks

Out of 30 restaurants, I have 11 knocked down. Late last week when I reached my tenth burger, it occurred to me, “Oh crap, I still have 20 more to go. WTF?” At the rate I’m going I am still on pace to finish after July 4th.

One interesting thing I’ve done is after I eat at a particular spot, I go and read reviews people have on that particular spot. It’s interesting how so many different people think so many different places are the best burger in the city. Sometimes I wonder if they think that for nostalgic reasons or because they’ve never been to certain restaurants. I’ve been to many of the places on the list and recall that I used to think a certain place was really good. Some of these places I haven’t been to in years. But now that I’m going to so many, it’s interesting to see how my view points have changed. I just know that once I release my opinions it’ll be met with many disagreeing thoughts from others. The beauty of this project though is it’s to determine what I think is the best burger in Wichita. It’s just one person’s opinion. It’s not like i’m the Wichita Eagle or the Food Network and releasing the list of best burgers in Wichita that some people may treat as gospel.
