For two years now, we’ve had a little feature at Wichita By E.B. called “Must Try Menu Item” where we go over a particular menu item that you should try at least once.
For this edition of the Must Try Menu Item, we head over to Albero Cafe at Central and Oliver and discuss a dish my family and I tried for our first time and were wowed upon the first bite.

Here’s the menu description: Italian sausage, shrimp, pepperoncini peppers, olives, roasted red peppers, and penne pasta tossed in our spicy Rosa sauce.
At $16 it was packed with so much flavor. The very first bite you take, sit back and wait for the heat to come on. It catches you by surprise but doesn’t overwhelm the palate. Then you just want to keep on eating. If we could purchase the spicy Rosa sauce, we would. The only drawback of the dish is you have to take the shell off the shrimp yourselves.
Some people may be caught off guard by the $16 price tag but it’s a meal big enough that leftovers are likely. My sister-in-law had my brother’s leftovers and was so impressed by it she’s wanting to go to Albero Cafe for her first time now. To quote my brother, “It’s just as good cold as it is hot.”
The Shrimp Sicilian was listed on their specials so I’m not sure how long it will be available for but this is one dish you’ll want to be sure to check out.
