I received word that GangNam Kitchen was open from a friend but wanted to confirm it with the restaurant. I looked everywhere to see if I could locate a number or any site for GangNam Kitchen and there were none to be found. I called up their Old Town location and they were able to confirm GangNam Kitchen was open. When asking for a phone number or their hours, I was told nobody at that location knew the information. So there’s great synergy between the two stores already.
GangNam Kitchen is different than their Old Town counterpart in the fact that they do not have grilling tables. The still serve alcohol though for those inquiring.
A group of friends and I decided to stop by in the middle of the afternoon to get a first look at GangNam and to give you the reader’s digest version, we were not impressed. It wasn’t like our experiences at GangNam Korean Grill and Bar in Old Town.
The ramen lacked any flavor and felt rushed. The iron plate and the bulgogi dishes I was told were fatty, average at best or halfway decent. The sides were the most disliked items of our orders. Some of the fried sides weren’t cooked all the way. Some were still cold inside and all had the taste of store brought frozen sides. The calamari rings were extremely disappointing.
While one of our six orders were messed up, we were OK with that given it was opening day. Mistakes are bound to happen and that’s understandable. The rest of the service was great and timely. The food though? Yikes. With it being their first day of business, we weren’t sure if they used the exact same food as their Old Town location, weren’t prepared for opening day or what but we are all extremely disappointed given our experiences with their counterpart. For now it’s a hard no from our group. If you came to this blog for honesty then that’s what we try to provide.
GangNam Kitchen has a long ways to go if they want to be the top spot for Korean food on the northeast side of town. For starters, they may want to let people know they are open. There’s not a single mention of GangNam Kitchen being open on their Grill and Bar’s Facebook page which we all found surprising. There’s not a single mention of the store location or even hours anywhere. This might be a prime example of how not to open a restaurant if you want actual business that day.
As for their menu, there’s only one place to find it at the moment and that’s right here if you keep scrolling down.
Happy Dining,
Eddy

Hmm it looks like your site ate my first comment (it was super long) so
I guess I’ll just sum it up what I submitted and say, I’m thoroughly
enjoying your blog. I as well am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to the whole thing.
Do you have any tips for inexperienced blog
writers? I’d definitely appreciate it.
