At work, I’m on our committee that helps plan our annual holiday party. I’m big on always trying to do something new and refreshing. Crowd interaction is a big plus for me. If I had to go to a party where it was just dinner and cocktails, there’s a good chance I may pass. I need excitement. Holiday parties should be a time to relax, loosen up a little, and really enjoy yourselves.
In the past we’ve done things like Minute to Win It, Family Feud, Hollywood Game Night, etc. They’ve always been a big hit and this year we wanted to change things up. After brainstorming some ideas, the idea of music came up. Someone brought up a live band but the crowd interaction just isn’t there with a band. Then it hit all of us…..”Why not have dueling pianos?”
I started doing some research on dueling pianos and it seemed like many of the popular contractors were located outside of Wichita. I then reached out on social media to friends for suggestions and a college buddy of mine knew a guy. A few months later, our holiday party was huge success thanks to Hi-Fi Productions and Dueling Pianos.
David Damm runs Hi-Fi Productions and was my contact throughout the planning process for our work holiday party. He was great to work with on coming up with entertainment ideas during the pianos, type of music to play and any other needs going into the party.
For our party, we had dueling pianos and a drummer for the evening. They came up early, set up, and was professional throughout the night. My colleagues had so much fun suggesting songs, listening to David and his team play memorable songs all night long. On top of this, any tips they donated 100% of it to Rise Up For Youth, a local organization that helps at-risk youth. (Definitely check out the link on Rise Up For Youth, I’ve assisted in many of their events and they are one of the best charities in town.)
If you’ve ever been to a dueling piano bar around the country, you already know what to expect. They replicated the same magic and fun at our party and the feedback from my colleagues was all positive. Everybody literally loved it with some saying it was our best holiday party ever.
