There’s a Tex-Mex restaurants on the west side that offers a large menu inside an even bigger building. Mexico Viejo which has been around since 2014 sits in the former La Fiesta and La Mesa space.

You can find their menu online. It spanned so many pages that I figured it’d be better to just link it online than to take pictures.
For dinner we went with their #8 combination which included an enchilada, tamale, rice and beans along with a taco salad. Before our entrees came out, we were given complimentary chips and salsa. The corn chips were OK, they tasted like the ones that were purchased in bulk in big bags. The salsa was a little on the runny side and were kind of meh to us. We asked for their hotter salsa and that had lots of heat; the type of heat that will leave your mouth numb.
While the chips and salsa were a little of a letdown, our dinners made up for it. Often times Tex-Mex can come off as bland to us but that wasn’t the case here. Their special Mexican sauce that was poured over the tamale and was very flavorful. The beef stuffed enchilada was very filling. The taco salad provided lots of fresh ingredients that left us very satisfied.
Our server was extremely friendly, drinks were never empty and the restaurant was very clean. Mexico Viejo was one of those surprising dining experiences where our expectations were exceeded.
Happy Dining,
Eddy
