Girl Scout Cookies Review: New gluten-free Caramel Chocolate Chip

First thanks to my friend and neighbor Steph for supplying the new flavor of girl scout cookies for me.

As you all know now, it’s girl scout cookie season. This year’s new flavor was the gluten-free caramel chocolate chip.  It’s the second gluten-free option made with caramel, semisweet chocolate chips, and a hint of sea salt. There’s been a limited amount of these available in Wichita.

For the health nuts, a single serving of three Caramel Chocolate Chip cookies has 170 calories, 12 grams of sugar and eight grams of fat. Each bag comes with twelve cookies. Remember the bags/boxes are $4 and then next year prices increase to $5.

So how did the cookies taste? For starters, we couldn’t taste the caramel or sea salt. We love supporting the girl scouts and buy cookies every year but we will stick to our favorites in the future. The caramel chocolate chip cookies tasted like dry chocolate chip cookies. Don’t get us wrong, they weren’t horrible but at the same time they weren’t great. These cookies will likely be passed on to other family members who want to give them a try.

Four dollars a box really adds up and in our opinion our money is better spent on far better flavors we enjoy like thin mints, peanut butter patties, caramel delights, and lemonades. But for people who need gluten-free, your palates are likely much different than ours and you could very well like them. It’s just something you’ll have to try for yourself if you can find a box.

Happy Dining,
Eddy
