Downtown is a hotbed for lunch time. Often times, you’ll find many restaurants packed between 11 and 1. If you’re looking for good food at a good value, there’s one place you should consider: The Kitchen. They have numerous items for under $10 which I think is a perfect sweet spot for lunch.

The Kitchen is located at Union State in the same strip as Smoothie King and PourHouse. The lot just south of there has finally been finished so there should be more ample spots for you to park at.
We’ve covered The Kitchen many times but it’s always been during dinner time. We wanted to give it a go during the busy lunch hour. There were plenty of customers over that time but the kitchen (pun intended) was running smoothly. Servers were bustling back and forth, food was constantly coming out and diners were flowing in and out.
The menu consists of many wraps, flatbreads, appetizers, soups, salads, burgers and sandwiches that all fall under the $10 price-point. We ended up going with a couple of their flatbread options: BBQ Chicken and the Chicken & Spinach.
At first glance, the plate doesn’t look like it’s going to fill you up but it does. Each dish is one big rectangular flatbread cut into seven pieces. It’s very misleading just how full you will get. It’s the type of full everyone should be where you’re not stuffed to the point it hurts to walk and not so small you leave still a little hungry. It’s the perfect size with the perfect price-point.
My favorite was the BBQ Chicken. I love “BBQ Chicken anything” so this was right up my alley. There were plenty of chicken chunks layered on top of the cheese, onions and most importantly, the house BBQ sauce which really made the flatbread. It was a sweet and savory dish that’s good enough to be its own meal or even an appetizer shared among friends.
The Kitchen is a great little spot that probably doesn’t get touched upon enough by others in the community but should. Everybody I have ever taken in my family there has loved it.
Here’s their menu:
Happy Dining,
