Delano BBQ Co. Revisited

While looking for lunch, I started driving around and passed by a building I haven’t stepped foot in over a year and not sure why. I always talk about the place but for some reason don’t go as often as I’d like. I’m talking about Delano Barbeque Company.

Reviewing BBQ is so tough because some foodies and BBQ fans are very fanatical almost at the point of crazy about their preference. Everybody’s a pro and have their own claims. I’m no BBQ expert and will never claim to be. This past year was my first summer into the world of grilling at home, so I’m just a newbie.

But here’s what I do know. If the food and service are good, that’s all that matters to me. And what my stomach and palate tells me is I must like Delano Barbeque Company.

For lunch, I had their three meat dinner with my choice smoky joe (chopped brisket), burnt ends and smoked bologna which was on special. I also had their garlic slaw and pasta salad.

I ordered the garlic slaw because I miss the garlic salad at the closed Doc’s Steakhouse. It was more slaw than anything and I couldn’t taste much garlic. The pasta salad was decent but I’m biased and am more of a fan of the dressing loaded pasta salads.

But the real attraction were the meats. The burnt ends were fantastic, meaty, tender and very flavorful. I’m not sure if it’s offered every day there but on the Thursday I dropped by it was. The sloppy joe was a big hit too. I loved the thicker texture of the chopped brisket. I imagine it’d be even better in sandwich form. Then to round it out, the smoked bologna was also a winner. As the name suggested, the smokey flavor was delicious and really stood out in the bologna. It was one of those meals I could easily have been happy with either one of those meats.

Then I noticed I didn’t even try the three sauce options available. I guess that’s a good sign when you forget about it.

On top of the food, the service there was quick and very friendly. I overheard a gentleman by me that kept raving about the service and how nice the staff was. I’d agree, it made my experience much more enjoyable.

Just another one of the fantastic BBQ options in town.

Here’s their menu:

Happy Dining,
Eddy
