There’s a new little dining option in town at the Cleveland Corner. The spot may be familiar to many of you as it’s where the Workroom is located at. And now, it’s also home to Birney’s Snack Shop.
It’s what they call Wichita’s newest snack shop that allows you to grab some eats and drinks on the go or to sip and shop in the connected Workroom space. They opened this month with a limited menu, so I stopped by for some breakfast tacos.

As mentioned earlier, they had a limited menu that consisted of three different breakfast tacos. Cereal was also available. I went with one of each of the tacos along with their Leaf Logic Hibiscus Iced Tea which came with free refills.
While I waited, I was told they just received their liquor license and will soon have other additions like michelada, mimosas, and a DIY toast bar.
Soon after, I received my tacos and headed over to the condiment bar to add in all the fixins. They also had a variety of different bottled salsas available.
Between all the tacos, my favorite was the chorizo and egg. I highly recommend adding in some slaw and their hottest salsa available for some heat. The chorizo and egg combination worked great together while the slaw gave it a vibrant punch to liven up the tacos.
One of the things I enjoyed about the bacon, egg and cheese taco was the bacon was cut up in chunks. I’ve had too many breakfast tacos where the bacon is just one big slice or worse, bacon bits which is a cop out to me.
Admittedly some people may be turned off by the $3.50 asking price for the tacos. Many diners around town are nearly conditioned to think all tacos should be $1-2. If you’re familiar with the Workroom, they have a big focus on local goods and that’s been transferred over to Birney’s Snack Shop as well. There seems to be an uptick in price when you’re trying to use local goods. Whether you find value in that is completely up to you. For what it’s worth, I enjoyed the tacos. I’m interested to see how their menu grows over time and likely will return to see.
