One of the biggest myths is since Wichita is landlocked, we can’t get high-quality seafood. The Seafood Shop is just one of many options in town that hope to dispel those beliefs. They offer high-quality fresh fish, delivered from the dock to their shop every day. They keep a huge variety of fresh (and never frozen) seafood in their case and have over 200 species of fin fish and shellfish available to order in.

Whether it’s salmon, tuna, catfish, oysters, crab legs, lobster, scallops, etc, they have it on hand or can order it in.
There’s also take & bake meals you can purchase and take home.
If that isn’t enough, they also have meals prepared on site you can eat there or takeout. I decided to stop by and see what they had on hand. Their special was Creole Grilled Shrimp w/Dirty Rice for $11.99.
It came with a sauce I didn’t use at all because the Creole Grilled Shrimp was amazing by itself. The creole had such a nice flavorful kick that I loved every second of. Each piece of shrimp was a mouthful of deliciousness. The dirty rice was a great complimentary side that paired well with the shrimp. The shrimp alone was worth the price of the meal for me. You could really tell the difference in quality.
You’ll want to note that the specials can often change so be sure to follow their Facebook page to see what they have.
….And because I’m a pig, I decided to take some food to go with me. They had a seafood gumbo available that included shrimp, crab meat, oysters, andouille sausage, tomato, garlic, fish stock, celery, red pepper, onion, parsley, okra, and other seasonings.
I’m a huge lover of soup and this was no letdown for me. Each spoonful was incredibly spicy but not too overpowering. There was also no shortage of protein inside. Overall it was another delicious offering from the Seafood Shop.
I don’t make it out to the Seafood Shop often but have always enjoyed every visit there. They are my go-to spot for sushi grade fish when we are making sushi at home.
Happy Dining,
Eddy
