This review has been a long time coming. It’s time to talk Taco Shop. I’ve been going to Taco Shop for a long time. I remember many college dinners at their now closed location at 4910 E Central that is now a Lina’s Mexican Restaurant. All-you-can-eat tacos was a big pastime of ours after classes on Monday.

When it comes to fast food taco spots, Taco Shop definitely deserves to be in the discussion for one of the best in town.
For starters, my favorite thing at Taco Shop is the enchiladas. Everyone has their favorite place for fast food enchiladas but for me Taco Shop is the winner hands down. On Tuesday they have buy one enchilada dinner, and get a second for a dollar. There’s something about their enchilada sauce that reminds me of crack despite never having tried the drug. Partly because it’s insanely addicting. If Taco Shop offered to sell me their sauce, I’d buy it and contemplate drinking it straight. Usually I’ll order their enchiladas with no cheese and extra sauce…… so good.
Another favorite, mostly from the kids is the taco burger. They really love the texture of the bun and how it’s soft and keeps the burger intact. Taco Shop is generous on the meat and cheese as well which is a big plus.
Of course there are the tacos. It’s not like Taco Bell where they give you a teaspoon of meat. They fill it up well and a few of them are usually enough. When reviewing tacos, I feel it’s important to separate the category of tacos. Fast food tacos should not be compared to gourmet tacos or street tacos. So in the world of fast food tacos, they are certainly filling and the meat quality at Taco Shop is at or near the top in comparison to the competition.
The final selling point for me at Taco Shop is the hot salsa. For fast food, I’m surprised how much heat it packs in the salsa along with a good flavor to it.
For fast food taco lovers, you haven’t lived until you’ve gone to their Monday all-you-can-eat tacos for $5.99 which runs from 4-9pm.
What else is there to be said? If you were to categorize best fast food tacos, Taco Shop is probably in my Top 3-4 along with Taco Rio, Taco Pronto and Taco Tico.
