From 68 all the way down to four…..OUR Final Four.
With COVID-19 causing the cancellation of Selection Sunday, we were all left without a bracket to look at. So weeks ago I put together a 68 restaurant tournament bracket for readers to vote on throughout this stay-at-home order. After days and days of voting, we have finally made it to the Final Four.
The bracket was broken up into four regions with restaurants chosen to represent each region. The voting took place and the winner of each region is as follows:
East Region: Bella Luna
West Region: HomeGrown
South Region: N&J Cafe
Central Region: Tanya’s Soup Kitchen
Congratulations to all four restaurants on this tremendous honor. This was all the results of readers and food lovers all across the city. Their respect for the restaurants catapulted them to this momentous occasion.
Bella Luna beat the likes of Kababs, Chester’s Chophouse, Newport Grill and Ziggy’s Pizza. HomeGrown’s path consisted of defeating Vietnom Nom, Bill’s Charcoal Grill, Knolla’s Pizza and Wichita Brewing Company who they beat by roughly 30 votes. N&J Cafe bested Pollo Express, Buster’s Burger Joint, Taqueria El Fogon, and Taco Fajita. Meanwhile, many argued that Tanya’s may have had the toughest road having to go through Siena Tuscan Steakhouse, Molino’s Cuisine, Doo-Dah Diner and La Galette.
Regardless of the path, here we are at the final four. These four restaurants will begin their quest for a spot in the Championship Match Up. Voting begins today with both matchups being held today on the Wichita By E.B. Facebook page. It’s a battle of Mediterranean Madness with Bella Luna and N&J Cafe on one side of the bracket. In the other it’s Tanya’s Soup Kitchen and HomeGrown in a battle of popular American cuisine.
Disclaimer: This was and is meant to be all just for fun with the winner receiving nothing but bragging rights. If you’re mad your favorite restaurant still isn’t in it, go eat a Snickers.
I do have ONE REQUEST. When you vote, ask yourself if you’re voting for what you truly feel is the BEST or if you’re just voting to support said place based on other reasons. Obviously there is no way to regulate it but I just wanted to throw that out there.
