Eating with Emery at Tokyo Japanese Cuisine

Since restaurants started reopening, I have not yet dined in for sushi. There were some blog milestones, I reached this past week and wanted to celebrate. I was craving sashimi and just knew where to go, Tokyo Japanese Cuisine.

With COVID-19, Tokyo Japanese Cuisine did a great job of spacing customers out. They also had a QR code available so you could view the menu online from your phone as paper menus were not handed out.

I was starving so to begin we had soup and salad. Ginger dressing is the key to my heart when it comes to salad and I can go through a gallon of miso soup if I had to.

For our main entrĂ©es, we had the Perfect Roll which was a fresh fish roll wrapped in cucumber. We also ordered the sashimi dinner deluxe which was a 16 piece assortment of raw fish and the chef’s choice.

Starting things off was salmon sashimi wrapped around a ball of rice and smothered with a sweet glaze. I didn’t get the name of it but it was amazing. Tokyo Japanese Cuisine has the best salmon sashimi in town so it pairs well with anything in my book.

Not long after we received the rest of our meals and quickly scarfed all of it down. As mentioned when it comes to sashimi, nobody does it better. It’s big thick cuts of fish that’s fresh and tender. Every bite is best placed on your tongue then sit back and take it all in. It nearly melts in your mouth. There’s no strong fishy taste, just wonderful damn sushi the way it’s mean to be.

As for Emery, she had a bowl of sticky rice. She loved it so much, she was all smiles throughout dinner. I asked her how she felt about it and she responded with a couple grunts and “da da da da da ma ma ma ma *grunt*”.

From all the time I’ve spent with her, I think it translated to “Dada, mama, that was freaking awesome!”

When it comes to favorite sushi in town, Tokyo Japanese Cuisine is up there for me. While I’m big fans of many other places, this is probably my most frequent stop. I just love the food, the people and everything about it.

To quote my daughter, “it’s freaking awesome”.

Happy Dining,
Eddy
