Grandma Thuy’s new expanded menu includes wings!

The little restaurant that has been selling out egg rolls like crazy, Grandma Thuy’s, recently made some additions to their menu. One of those additions has been wings.

Here’s a little secret some people may now know. Many Vietnamese restaurants have wings on their menu. It’s usually looked over in favor of other traditional staples but if you ever have a chance to try them, do. It’s worth it. That goes for Grandma Thuy’s as well.

We’ve discussed their egg rolls in their First Look review but let’s talk wings.

Their chicken wings are simple in nature but huge on flavor. Seven wings runs $7 while a dozen is $13. There are three sauce options as well:

• Sweet Chili (similar to their egg roll dipping sauce but no carrots)
• Honey Garlic Ginger
• Spicy Chili

All three are great or you can go with no dipping sauce and the experience is still wonderful.

If you want a quicker visit, I highly recommend calling in your order otherwise be prepared for a little wait as wings are made fresh. I went with a dozen along with all three sauce options. I’m such a condiment whore that I went through all three sauces with ease. There wasn’t one that stuck out more than the other. I believe in equality for all condiments.

As for the wings themselves…… delicious. They were juicy, succulent and fried to a nice crisp where they delicious light breading pulled off with ease. The meat underneath was still hot even after the drive home. I contemplated sharing them at home but figured this was a suitable moment to be greedy.

Of course if wings aren’t your thing, perhaps egg rolls are.

Grandma Thuy’s has been a huge hotspot for egg rolls especially for west siders. On your next visit, do yourself a favor and get some wings. Up next to try, the crab rangoon.
