Let’s review Fazoli’s!
Fazoli’s is a fast casual chain restaurant that specializes in Italian-American cuisine and dishes. The restaurant originally started in 1988 out of Kentucky and has since ballooned up to over 200 locations nationwide. There are two locations in Wichita with one out near 37th and Rock and the other off of west Central where we stopped by for this particular review.
Usually the best visits to Fazoli’s are dine in because of the all-you-can-eat breadsticks but due to everything going on in the world we decided this would be a good visit for carryout. There was a $20 family meal special going on at the time. It included spaghetti, fettuccine alfredo, a whole pizza, a gallon of iced tea and best of all 16 breadsticks. We figured at that price, it was the perfect opportunity for a #SaturChains review.
To take advantage of this deal, we had to use the Fazoli’s app which was painless and easy. I arrived and my order was ready for pick up.
The pictures don’t do it justice. There was a ton of food.
Unfortunately most of it wasn’t really that good. The meat sauce and alfredo sauce were both pretty bland. On the bright side, there was an immense amount of noodles. So they did a great job on the portion size. But if you’re looking for real quality food, this isn’t your best bet. It was cheap, affordable and the kids didn’t mind at all.
If we thought that was bad, the pizza was worse. It was a thick crust pizza with a very dry thin layer of cheese and pepperoni. Shopping mall pizza fare better than this one.
Unsweetened iced tea is always a winner in my book.
The major saving grace for the $20? The breadsticks. They have some of the best breadsticks in the business. Each one was flimsy, salty, doughy yet delicious. Most of our time was spent eating the breadsticks.
I’m not sure many people go to Fazoli’s looking for quality Italian food. Most of the time it’s about affordability and convenience. I even catch myself going for lunch at least once every couple of months. Why do I go? 1 out of 10 times it’s because of a coupon or deal. The other 9 times it’s for the breadsticks. I put up with the food just so I can get my hands on them.
Compared to our local places, Fazoli’s doesn’t even come close.
