A recent addition to the Wichita fleet of food trucks is Mil’s On Wheels Food Truck. They opened back in May and have a menu of soul food and comfort food favorites like catfish, wings, burgers, fried sides and more.

I made a quick stop one afternoon and wanted a mix of both of their popular options: wings and catfish. It took roughly 10-15 minutes for my food to be prepared and then I was on my way home.
For starters, I really enjoyed the catfish. It had a light breading with a nice coating of seasoning that was not overly salty. In hindsight, I wished I ordered two pieces instead of one.
Next up the wings which came with crinkle cut fries were awaiting my stomach. I wasn’t necessarily a fan of the fries but then again I’m not much of a crinkle cut fan. They definitely could have used some salt or something. Meanwhile, the wings had some hits and misses. It had strong fry flavor to it but juicy tender meat underneath. The wings themselves were inconsistent on size. Some pieces were really big and others were minuscule.
For what its worth, I much preferred the catfish over the wings.
The gentleman running the truck was very nice and cordial throughout my visit. Overall, it was a nice little visit to Mil’s On Wheels where I left craving more catfish.
