Gabby’s Peruvian Restaurant announced they would be closing their doors for good in August. It was upsetting to hear this as they were one of my Top 150 restaurants in Wichita. With the news, I wanted to have a last hurrah there and enjoy a nice meal from there. After eating it, it might have to be two last hurrahs.

First off, I should note they have a different menu for their last few weeks of business:
I went with the Bistec a lo Pobre (7oz grilled beef tenderloin. Served with fried yuca, fried plantains, fries, fried eggs) and the Arroz Chaufa (Peruvian style stir-fried rice with pork).
It was literally so much food for two people. I think we ate half of each meal and decided to leave it out and graze on it all day long. It was soooooo good and part of what made Gabby’s one of my favorite restaurants in town.
I’ve never came across a dish I disliked there which makes me want to go back again soon for more.
While I was there, I saw a gentleman drinking a Peruvian pop called Inca Kola. So, I purchased two cans. They tasted like cream soda which I love.
I implored for the city to give them one last round of support and order food from Gabby’s and people responded. While I was there, Gabby told me the phone was ringing non-stop and many new customers came in to try their food. It was bittersweet though as she told me it was time to close eventually. I asked about catering and she wasn’t sure if that would go on anymore either.
If you have it in you, go support this place one last time and let’s give them a proper send off from the diners of Wichita.
Happy Dining,
Eddy
