First Look at Champs 316 Bar & Grill

There’s a bar one south Seneca called Champs Bar & Grill. It was a place I’d stop by with frequents every so often. Over time though, Champs Bar & Grill was in need of a change. Insert some new ownership. During the pandemic, owners completely renovated the interior and rebranded it as Champs 316. Some friends and I wanted to check out the new space. Here’s our first look.

First, let’s talk the interior. They did an awesome job with cleaning up the inside. I remember first seeing the pictures and not believing that was actually Champs. To be honest, I’m not certain if I’ve ever seen Champs with the lights on. Usually, I’m severely inebriated before even walking into Champs so it was like visiting a totally brand-new bar.

There were plenty of pool tables and TV’s to go around. We loved the open layout of the place…… I’m pretty sure the previous Champs had an open layout but my memory is still foggy.

My friends and I met up for lunch and started off with a couple of appetizers. The egg rolls and meatballs weren’t anything crazy or to rave about but for quick, easy bar appetizers they were satisfying enough and convenient shareable starters.

For lunch, my friends went with two different burgers while I had an order of wings.

The twelve wings consisted of half Asian sauce and half Cajun dry rub. The Asian sauce was reminiscent of the Asian zing found at Buffalo Wild Wings. The wings in general were similar to theirs to in size as well.

We quickly devoured our meals and were all in agreement we were very satisfied with our lunch. The group I went with were my “bar-goer friends”, meaning it’s the group of guys that tag along with me when eating out at the various bars around town. Comparatively speaking, the food was definitely better than some other south-side bars we’ve frequented in the past. For reference, our other favorites in the food space are O’Malley’s and Whiskey Dicks. We’d put Champs 316 just a notch below them.

For our service, our server did a fantastic job all afternoon of taking care of us which was a big plus.

I’m not sure if Champs 316 will become a food destination when it comes to the bar scene. I’ll say though that if my buddies and I are looking for a place to catch some drinks, eat some food and perhaps watch a game, Champs 316 would be a place we’d consider.

The layout is nice, the service is great, and the ambience gives a “we just want to have fun” type of vibe.
