Get a load of this! Tacos TJ 664 will be unveiling their newest creation: the Birria Pizzadilla.
The Mexican restaurant located at 803 N. West St. which has put out limited-time popular creations that have sold out like the bacon-wrapped burrito is ready drop some jaws.
A Facebook user tagged Tacos TJ 664 in a post asking if they could recreate a Birria Pizzadilla. Owners stepped up to the place and will now release their version on Wednesday. But before that, we got a chance to try it out.
I was joined by Jeremy at Fert The Foodie and we stopped in for a first hand sneak peek.
The Birria Pizzadilla is a multi layer of birria in a pizza/quesadilla form. It’s a thick thick thick thick entree weighing in at 5 pounds that is sure to fill multiple people up. It’s made with cheese, tortillas, birria, and all the goodies available in a birria taco then served with some consome to dip it with. It’s cut into eight slices like a pizza. Each slice was like lifting weights for me. It was quite the workout and I may be needing an ice bath later.
Like all things birria, the consome just enhances the flavor and adds a heartiness to it that you may not want but definitely need.
Visually, it’s a sight to behold. But digging into the Birria Pizzadilla is a foodie experience to add to your bucket list. I love fusion dishes that combine different elements and cuisines into one. With this, you get the ever-popular birria mixed in with the construction of a quesadilla and presented like a pizza. Not just any pizza but a Chicago-style deep dish pizza with a Mexican twist. It’s a win all the way around.
I was only able to get down two slices while Fert put down four. There was a couple further away that kept looking over at us. We could tell they were intrigued by it so I offered them a slice. They took it and ate it with glee.
This creation would be the perfect food challenge for one person. Otherwise you’ll need a few friends for this one.
On the way home, I was incredibly full and probably would have failed a birria breathalyzer.
The price of the pizza is $37.99 and includes 2 cups of consome. There is a smaller option that is essentially four slices and is $17.99 and comes in at 2 pounds but no consome. Be on the lookout for this from Tacos TJ 664 when it will be available for a limited time starting Wednesday.
