The Sweetz N Treatz Bakery space at 917 W. Douglas Ave has been vacant since March of this year when the bakery closed. Sources tell me that a new Mexican restaurant will soon be taking over the building. Tacos El Rey who recently closed their restaurant at 2943 S. Hillside appears to be taking over.
The Mexican restaurant originally opened this summer on south Hillside but wanted to expand to an area of town with more traffic. While the seating capacity inside the Delano space is smaller than their original location, the centralized area of town should be a big boost for them in terms of visibility.
Tacos El Rey who we reviewed here in August, offers street tacos with a variety of meats, burritos, super nachos, tostadas and quesadillas. It’s an interesting move for them which sits them next door to Ruben’s Mexican Grill.
No word on when the opening will be but if you follow Tacos El Rey on Facebook, that should be announced soon.
