Finally visiting the remodeled Naftzger Park

Since it was remodeled, I have not been to Naftzger Park at 601 E. Douglas. For as long as I’ve known it, it was the park where people would go take graduation pictures or the place the homeless would hang out at. Naftzger Park always felt so dingy and run down at times.

While it took me a bit longer than most to spend some time there, I was glad I did. It looked beautiful.

There was a food truck parked out at Naftzger, I wanted to visit. Even though the weather was a little breezy, I spent some time out there to take it in.

The new look is much more modern. I never realized how much space the park was until it was opened up. The 1-acre lot has a big entertainment pavilion that overlooks an Astroturf field.

It’s a perfect place to bring your dogs out or let your kids roam around. Additional tables and benches adorn the west end sidewalk to provide more seating.

The space even allows for a few food trucks to park at. With the removal of the Pop-Up Urban Park, this was a very nice addition to downtown Wichita. I’ve driven by it hundreds of times and always loved the look. Now that I could spend a bit of time there, it’s even cooler.

I’m excited to get out there more when it gets warmer to get my food truck grubbing on.
