First Look at The Mustard Seed

The Mustard Seed

In March 2021, a new restaurant opened in Augusta, KS called The Mustard Seed. It’s the sister restaurant of sorts to Sugar Shane’s Cafe.

Shane Scott who owns Sugar Shane’s Cafe decided to open up a second restaurant right down the street that sells salads and sandwiches.

I was passing through Augusta and decided to make a quick pit stop to check out the new restaurant.

While I had eaten earlier in the day, I wanted to order something light and went with a chicken salad sandwich which came with cranberries and pecans. My side was a mac & cheese which was nothing special but a nice simple treat with my sandwich.

Chicken salad sandwiches aren’t typically my thing but it came as a recommendation. I’m glad I went with it because it was very delicious. Like the mac and cheese, there wasn’t anything really over the top about it. I liked the inclusion of the cranberries and pecans to give it some texture. This is why I love hearing recommendations from people who are at the restaurants. Sometimes, they suggest something I wouldn’t order myself. Then, when I give in, it works out.

The Mustard Seed seems to be a no frills simple salad and sandwich shop. I have no complaints about my visit.

And kudos to the staff. They were both relatively young but most of all incredibly nice, helpful and inviting. They added quite a bit of charm to the quaint little space.

Check it out.
