A new spot to grab a cold beverage and hang out will be opening on Friday, July 23 but we have a first look inside Social Tap Drinkery. The new space is located on the Wichita State campus in Braeburn Square. Let’s check it out.

Social Tap Drinkery is very spacious that has seating for over 80 people inside.
In case that’s not enough, there’s a huge back patio that faces the lake and seats another 65.
The bar features roughly 50 taps inside. There were roughly 40 beers available during the soft opening event with over a quarter of them being local Kansas beers. The list of beers can be viewed on their Untappd listing.
One of the big changes in the bar scene at Social Tap, at least in the Wichita area, is how you order drinks. Everything is predominantly done from your phone. You scan the QR code, order and pay for your beer, and will receive a notification when it’s ready. To those of you who have been to Old School Tap House & Social, it’s a similar concept. There are other ways to order drinks if you don’t have a smartphone, but that’s predominantly the way it’s done.
On your first visit, I highly recommend Boulevard Brewing Co.’s Tiki Slam. I was raving about it and made sure most of my friends ordered it as well.
Another thing to note is Social Tap doesn’t serve food, but there is a restaurant called Sungrano Pizza located in the same building. You can also order food from your phone and walk over just steps away once the pizza is ready.
It’s all a very cool concept and one that has someone like me excited, especially if I’m looking for a place to pregame before a Shocker basketball or baseball game.
