One of the sushi restaurants we don’t get out too enough but enjoy every time is Sapporo Japanese Sushi Restaurant. Many people may remember of Sake which closed down in March 2016. The owners of Sake would eventually return to the Wichita restaurant scene and open Sapporo.

Nearly every visit for sushi starts off with a basic salad with ginger dressing and a spicy Kani salad. Sapporo has an excellent Kani salad; a pro-tip is to add mango and avocado to really liven it up.
We opted for a light dinner and split a few rolls. We went with a tuna cucumber roll and a sweetheart roll which came with tuna. Both rolls nailed exactly what we were looking for. They were fresh, light and not overly filling. Our goal was to enjoy some sushi but not walk out feeling bloated only to be hungry an hour later.
Sapporo did a fantastic job of getting sushi out to diners even with a nearly packed house that evening.
I think Sapporo is quite underrated when it comes to sushi in town. Everybody has their favorites, but if you haven’t been, I’d recommend giving Sapporo a try. On top of some great sushi, the owners are fun, kind and engaging folks.
