Earlier this year, I put out a list of my favorite street tacos in Wichita. One restaurant that missed the cut but very deserving to be on there was Los Pinos Mexican Restaurant. Located in the Delano District, it’s certainly the best place in the neighborhood for street tacos. They don’t get the same amount of love as other restaurants in Delano, so let’s do that right now.

Los Pinos serve a menu featuring tacos, burritos, enchiladas and more.

My visit there started off with complimentary chips and salsa. There wasn’t anything extremely noteworthy about it, as it was your typical house salsa with plenty of onion and garlic. You’ve all had it before, the type of salsa that sits with you all day. It’s all you can taste for 24 hours. But with that said, you can go through a bowl of it in seconds. That’s exactly what I did as I ate it all soon after its arrival to my table.

For lunch, I ordered five tacos: 2 al pastor, 2 tripitas and 1 beef.

Of the five tacos, my favorite was probably the al pastor. I loved how the meat was diced up finely. This meant, you had lots of al pastor in every single bite. The slogan “crumbly is better” would be well suited for Los Pinos’ al pastor tacos. I loved the slight sweet flavor to the meat. Next up, the tripitas were crispy yet tender. The tripe had a crunchy exterior, but every bite was followed by a tender texture. It’s hard to explain and something you’d have to try for yourself if you’re a fan of it. As for the beef, I’ll be honest. I could go for something else next time. It was a little dry for my preference, but the al pastor and tripitas more than made up for it.

As always, the staff at Los Pinos was great. It doesn’t look like they have a full staff, but did a fantastic job of getting the food out in a very timely manner. Show some love to Delano’s best spot for street tacos, get your butts over to Los Pinos.

Here’s the menu:

Happy Dining,
