Over the years, the local food scene has lost some of their poke options. The last standing brick and mortar option to serve the delicious Hawaiian dish is Crafted over at 8918 W. 21st St. It may be familiar to some as they also owned PokeMix that closed in west Wichita last year.

Crafted doesn’t just focus on poke. They are a whole coffee house with espresso drinks, frappes, smoothies, teas, cold brews, drip coffee and more.
One feature I love about Crafted is their big long table in the middle of the restaurant that seats roughly 16 people. It makes for a great setting for work outings or a place to mingle and grab a bite to eat with larger groups. And yes, they do have beer on hand as well.
On our latest visit, we were there strictly for poke. For those unfamiliar with it, it is a Hawaiian cuisine served with raw fish and most popular in salad type bowls.
The set up at the restaurant is similar to a Chipotle or Subway-style ordering system. You pick your proteins, your ingredients and sauce to mix it with and then your toppings.
We both went with a create-your-own option and was loving it. I felt like pigging out and went with the double the protein option for an additional $2. Worth it? If you’re looking to really stuff yourself, then yes. Everything tasted fresh and delicious.
I had a mix of salmon and smoked salmon. I added the spicy shoyu sauce but mixed in some pineapple and mango. It was the perfect blend of sweet and spicy to my salmon. If you’re looking for a high-quality, healthy, quick and tasty meal, the poke bowls are definitely the way to go.
Lastly, if you’re a big fan of hot pot, they also just started serving individual size hot pots. It makes for a great way to enjoy a traditional hot pot that don’t have large groups to do it with.
