In our household, we eat desserts year-round. If it’s freezing out, we will still eat cold treats with no shame. While we were in north Wichita, I tossed out the idea of getting some ice cream despite it being windy and cold. There wasn’t any opposition in my idea so I said, “Let’s go check out Paleteria La Reyna!” It’s a long-time staple in Wichita that serves not just Mexican food, but some of the best desserts in town.

Paleteria La Reyna is known for their Mexican ice cream that’s made in house. The paletas and other desserts have built quite the following in town.
We were in the mood for ice cream and there was no shortage of selection to choose from there. After spending what felt like an hour to decide, we settled on a double scoop of gansito and strawberry cheesecake and another double scoop of Kahlúa and cappuccino.
Both were delicious and offered flavors that matched exactly what you’d expect. Everything was extremely creamy and smooth. I would literally put their ice cream up against everybody in town.
Seriously people, while we have a lot of great homemade ice cream options in Wichita, don’t sleep on Paleteria La Reyna when taking the family out for some cold treats.
