What to expect at Safari of Lights at Tanganyika Wildlife Park

More holiday attractions have arrived in the Wichita area. In Goddard, Tanganyika Wildlife Park has kicked off their new Safari of Lights event.

The new Christmas lights show in Kansas runs from December 4th and until January 2nd (sidenote: They are closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day). The show runs from 5:30-8:30 pm with extended hours on Friday and Saturday nights right here at Tanganyika!

It’s brought to you by the mastermind of Illuminations and features over 150,000 lights. Different from some of the other attractions in town, Safari of Lights is a drive-thru light show extravaganza that takes you around the park.

Upon arriving at the park, you scan your ticket at the gate, then turn off your headlights, tune your radio to 103.9 and enjoy.

I won’t try to give too much away but I should note that the Safari of Lights features the longest RGB LED animated tunnel of colorful lights and the tallest animated Christmas tree in Wichita.

Tickets are based on cars similar to the drive-in. Entry is $20 per car from Sunday to Thursday, and $25 on Friday and Saturday. Tickets can be purchased here. You can obviously bring your own goodies but they do have popcorn and hot chocolate you can add on to your ticket which comes in a souvenir bag and cup.

The whole safari can take anywhere between 10-15 minutes depending on how fast you drive, whether you want to take pictures or try to stop and take it all in.

Here are some additional highlights at what to expect.
