Back in 2019, New Neighbors Bar & Grill was the new name settled on when owners took over Neighbors Bar & Grill. I’ve been hearing good things about them and decided, it was a good time to revisit the restaurant.

For those new to Neighbors in general, they are a restaurant that specializes in classic comfort foods. It’s burgers, salads, fried chicken, chicken fried steaks and chickens and much more.
My lunch started with a simple salad accompanied by Dorothy Lynch’s Homestyle Dressing. It’s my favorite dressing of all time. Any restaurant that serves it gets automatic bonus points from me. I don’t care what type of food you serve, if Dorothy Lynch’s is there, that’s an extra star in my book.
I asked my server for suggestions and she recommended me the chicken fried chicken. That sounded good enough for me so I happily nodded my head and went with that.
That afternoon, there was some sort of issue in the kitchen. Other diners in the room were waiting long periods of time for their food. It did take a while for my order to arrive, but nothing that took away from my lunch experience. While I didn’t bring it up with my server, I overheard other diners mentioning it to theirs. For what its worth, those diners were given free dessert for the wait.
My chicken fried chicken came with mashed potatoes and brown gravy along with green beans. There wasn’t anything overly exciting or memorable about the sides. They were decent but also not the star of the meal by any means.
What I did love though was the chicken fried chicken. It’s not a meal I often order, but New Neighbors Bar & Grill did an excellent job. The breading was quite flavorful and wasn’t overdone. By that, I mean it wasn’t tons and tons of breading to give the appearance that the chicken fried chicken was larger than it was. I’m not a fan of restaurants that load on the breading to make it look like you’re receiving a huge dish. Next, the piece of chicken was thick. They didn’t give me some wimpy piece. Finally, the main attraction of the meal was delicious from beginning to end. The chicken was still juicy and tender; the breading and gravy was just the cherry on top. I don’t order this meal much because I have had some lackluster versions but New Neighbors Bar & Grill may be one of the best in town.
To top it all off, my server was friendly, enthusiastic and did everything to make my lunch visit grand.

I’m glad you enjoyed your meal at Neighbors. My husband and I also visited the restaurant and while the food was good I received 5 shrimp instead of the 6 listed on the menu. I mentioned this to the waitress and she said she would let the kitchen. As we were paying a man came out and told us the shrimp were colossal so there were only 5. We have eaten here many times and they ( the shrimp) appeared the same. He said he orders the food and these were in fact colossal and the menu hadn’t been changed. I said maybe they should change the menu. He spoke to us in a loud voice. He grabbed the menus and abruptly left. I thought it was rude of him! We didn’t even ask for a discount.
