I had a lunch meeting and we were trying to figure out where to meet. When Cafe Maurice was thrown out as the place to go, I immediately jumped at the opportunity. It has been a place I’ve been trying to revisit for quite some time.

Sometimes when I’m meeting people on a professional level (I say that loosely because I’m by no means professional), I try to limit how often I’m taking pictures. So, I didn’t get any pictures of the menu, but that’s all available here.
This was a light lunch (I also say that loosely). We started off with a Meza platter which included spinach pies, meat pies, grape leaves, cabbage rolls, kebbe balls, baba ghanouj, hummus, and falafel. For safe measure, we also had the hummus shawarma. Pretty much every appetizer at the Mediterranean restaurant was on our table.
Of all the appetizers we had, the baba ghanouj and hummus shawarma were my favorites. I loved the smoky flavor and creamy texture of the baba ghanouj. I can literally still taste it as I’m writing this blog. It was such a memorable flavor that has me craving it a day later. The hummus shawarma was big enough that it could have served as its own meal.
Next up, I had the Maurice salad. The house salad came with caramelized almonds and a vinaigrette dressing. It was a simple yet well executed started. I thoroughly enjoyed the caramelized almonds, which not only gave the salad some texture, but a sweet nuttiness in each bite.
To round out our meal, we all shared a platter of kababs. It’s tough to choose a favorite, but I might go with the beef, which was way more tender than I was expecting. You honestly can’t go wrong with either of the meat selections, though.
Of course, we couldn’t leave without some of their complimentary tiramisu, which was like the cherry on top.
Service was particularly outstanding that day. I was really happy the opportunity arose to go revisit one restaurant that’s been on my list.

Happy Dining,
