Go Taco is the true definition of a hidden gem

Some people think you should level set your expectations on food depending on where you go. I believe that if any place is wanting your hard-earned money, they should at least put some effort to try to win your business. This includes anywhere food is sold, like a convenience store or gas station. We don’t necessarily need to expect 5-star meals, but we should at least get something we enjoy.

This brings me to The Flying Eagle gas station at 3405 S. West Street, where a little setup called Go Taco can be found.

Go Taco

The set-up is similar to a Chipotle, where you can pick your proteins and toppings; such proteins included pork, BBQ, steak, and chicken.

Burritos are definitely the way to go there. There were two sizes of burritos; I opted for the smaller of the two for six dollars. It was about the length of a standard paper plate.

For six dollars, it was an excellent burrito. I had beef, beans, rice, mild salsa and pico de gallo inside and was loving every second of it. While it started to fall apart at the very end, that didn’t bother me at all. Most of the burrito was eaten by hand and I didn’t put the thing down to breathe until it started falling apart.

The lady working the counter made sure to stuff the tortilla with as much meat as humanly possible.

It’s places like Go Taco that truly encompass what a hidden gem is.

If you want to see them in action, here’s a short video snippet.
