Our latest tournament bracket kicked off the first round over the past couple weeks. For those new to this, our social venture sought to see who is Wichita’s Most Liked BBQ. A tournament bracket featuring 32 restaurants, food trucks and pop-ups around town was created to have some fun.
The point of this whole bracket was three-fold, and if you don’t like it, tough shit:
- Introduce you all to the incredible number of options many of you may have never heard of.
- Use this platform of Wichita By E.B. to help give some exposure to places that rarely get love elsewhere.
- Have a little fun in the name of BBQ.
The first round went how I think most would have predicted if we were doing a bracket pool. Nearly all the favorites or more known restaurants won, but there were still some upsets. Two Brothers BBQ was upset by Mook’s (BBQ) Catering & Food Trailer. Another close matchup saw Ray’s Food Express edging out Crutch BBQ and Julius Rib Cage defeating BOMB BBQ.
Below you’ll find which eateries advanced to the Smoky 16! Voting should get pretty exciting from here on out as we find out who advances to the El-Eat 8! I expect to see some good BBQ debates.

REMEMBER, the results of this post don’t necessarily mean they are the best BBQ, but more of which place has the most online support, thus Most Liked. So if your favorite place doesn’t win, please cry to your parents….. not me. This all comes down to social media support on Facebook and Twitter, where the voting will be held. In the end, I hope you can find some new BBQ options you may have never heard of or tried! And just like the previous bracket, I will not be voting in any bracket. This will be left strictly to the general audience.
If you’d like to vote, you can find the eight matchups on the Wichita By E.B. Facebook page. Here’s the updated bracket!
We went from 32 down to 16, now we continue on down to 8. May the best BBQ win.
