Product Review: Grillo’s Pickle De Gallo & Pickle Spears

It’s no secret we are big pickle fans. A friend told me about Grillo’s Pickles, knowing I would give them a try.

The business has a cool story; they started in 2008 selling pickles out of the trunk of a two-tone 1984 Cutlass supreme at local events and markets around Connecticut and Massachusetts. The recipe was based off the owner’s grandfather’s 100-year-old pickle recipe.

Over the years, they started selling out of a pickle cart in Boston, got accepted into Fenway Park, went viral thanks to Joe Rogan, signed a deal with Target, and kept on growing.

My first experience with Grillo’s was their pickle spears. I picked up a 32oz. container from Target for $6.99; shared them with my family, who instantly loved them. They were crunchy and had the picture-perfect classic dill taste. It was everything we wanted from a pickle. We knocked out the first container in less than a week and bought another one soon after.

Then we came across a TikTok video showing their Pickle de Gallo product. We love pico de gallo, and Pickle de Gallo sounded like a no-brainer. I’m surprised I’ve never seen it before, as it made total sense. Target also carried this product for $4.99.

I loved the pickle spears, but the Pickle de Gallo may have been better. We had the thick and chunky version of the pickle-based salsa. They paired well with some Tostito’s Scoops. One container lasted us just two days; could have been one if we wanted to. The cucumbers, brine, yellow onion, red bell pepper, jalapeno peppers, garlic, and habanero peppers were magic. There was a bit of heat in each bite.

This would have been great on a hot dog, on a burger, in a taco, maybe even a peanut butter and jelly sandwich if we were living on the edge.

Last time I swung by Target to get another container, they were sold out. So if you can find these, get it. This product is a must try for any pickle lover.
