Dining by the Children’s Alphabet: Avivo Brick Oven Pizzeria

Avivo Brick Oven Pizzeria

I’ve decided to take my daughter on a journey. When I started this blog, I did a thing called Dining by the Alphabet, where I visited a different restaurant starting with the Letter A all the way to Z. Now that my daughter is a little older, I want to experience much of what I did. So, we are doing a thing called Dining by the Children’s Alphabet and she’ll be checking out different kid’s menus.

Will this be a review type blog? Definitely not, but more of a story of our time together, fatherhood, a kid stepping out of her comfort zone and what types of dishes are on kid’s menus.

For letter A, we stopped by Avivo Brick Oven Pizzeria.

Their kid’s menu features spaghetti, chicken alfredo and the ability to choose a “half size” of their regular menu pizzas.

She went with the kid’s pepperoni pizza. She’s had various pizzas around town and it’s always a different result. Sometimes she’ll scarf it down and other times, it’s the end of the world. Every pizza experience is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get.

Once the pizza arrived, she looked at it with disappointment. She was probably expecting fries. Beforehand, we had a talk about her eating pizza and she was in total agreement. Funny how she conveniently forgot that discussion.

No lie, it took about 30 minutes to each one small slice of pizza. She tried to divert, negotiate, and any other tactic to either not eat the pizza or take the smallest bites known to man. Had it been a Rice Krispy Treat, that thing would have been gone in 60 seconds. But since it was a slice of pizza, it took 1,800 seconds.

Within minutes, I started to wonder if I’d regret this Dining by the Children’s Alphabet thing. It’s really going to test her pickiness for food and my patience to try to get her to eat.

Let’s hope Letter B takes less time to eat 25% of her food.

Don’t forget, you can follow this journey on our YouTube page.
