Here’s a Pho King review for you to read

Pho King ICT

We’ve been talking about it for over a year now, and it’s finally pho king here. Wait, I mean, Pho King ICT is now open.

The Vietnamese restaurant at 4857 E. Harry is located in the original Pho Ong 8 space near Harry and Oliver. I stopped by to see if this place was more than just a witty name.

At Pho King ICT, it’s set up like many of the “create your own” dish style restaurants.

You choose the soup base, which can either be Spicy Miso Broth or Pho King Broth (aka Pho Soup). Then you can go with either rice noodles or yakisoba noodles. There were a bunch of toppings to pick from like beef, meatball, chicken, shrimp and more. Then you can round it out with veggies.

Pho King ICT

When I arrived, they ran out of pho broth. I was told the pho broth wouldn’t be ready for another hour so I went with the spicy miso broth base with rice noodles, beef, and meatball. Right as my order was near completion, I was told they had pho broth available; the quickest hour I’ve ever been a part of. Since it was ready, I figured why not order both soup broths.

I started with the spicy miso soup and gotta say, it was really delicious. It had just enough spice to give it some kick, but not in an overbearing way. I really loved the flavor. The amount of beef in the bowl was a bit scarce, but at $6.99 a bowl it was understandable as that’s on the more affordable end of prices around town.

Halfway through my spicy miso, I moved over to the pho. I was hoping this would be the pho king star of the show, but it wasn’t. The broth was rather underwhelming; a bit salty and lacked a deep, rich flavor. It tasted watered down, and even the hoisin sauce and sriracha didn’t help much. A quarter of the way through, I pushed the bowl to the side and finished my spicy miso.

There were some nice takeaways from Pho King ICT. At under $7 a bowl, that was pho king fantastic. The service was great, staff was polite, and the spicy miso broth was truly a winner. Unfortunately, the pho wasn’t exactly the pho king in Wichita as I hoped for.

I’ll be back in the future to give them another try when the weather begins to get cooler. Until then, have a nice pho king day.

@wichitabyeb Is the new Vietnamese restaurant Pho King ICT the “pho-king” King of Pho in Wichita? I came to find out and then got pho-king outta there. #fyp #pho #Wichita #phoking ♬ Hypnotize (Instrumental) [2014 Remaster] – The Notorious B.I.G.
