Let’s review Five Guys Burgers & Fries!
It’s time to visit the northwest Wichita location of the American fast casual chain focused on burgers, hot dogs and fries. Founded in Arlington, VA over 35 years ago, Five Guys has grown to over 1,500 locations with three locations in Wichita: one downtown on east Douglas, out west on north Maize and in northeast Wichita at 29th & Rock.
For this review, we visited the newest of the three locations at 3807 N. Maize Road.
Let’s face it, Five Guys is one of the best burger chains in town for those looking for a thick burger with all the fixings. For a condiment lover like myself, it was great to be able to choose from 15 toppings and sauces at no additional charge. My typical is the “All The Way” option which consist of mayo, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, grilled mushrooms, ketchup, grilled onions and mustard which I went with.
On our visit, everybody went with burgers along with Cajun-style fries.
The burger was fantastic. It was a messy, greasy and flavorful. The patty itself is one of the biggest compared to the other chains around town. My preference for a burger is something thick, unhealthy and a picture I can show my doctor who will shake their head. Five Guys hits the nail on the head there.
The cherry on top is the seasoned Cajun fries. They weren’t lightly coated, either. There was plenty of seasoning to go around. My only knock was my fries were a bit on the soggy side.
All in all, Five Guys was a meal that satisfied everyone. It’s one of those chains we have no problem stopping by every now and then.
