Dining by the Children’s Alphabet: HomeGrown

Our Dining by the Children’s Alphabet feature continues on with Letter H. We had an entire daddy/daughter staycation that began with breakfast at HomeGrown‘s Bradley Fair location at 1900 N. Rock Road.

The kid’s menu kept things very competitively and affordable at $5-6. Most meals were five dollars, with milk and juice refills at $1. They had funfetti pancakes, classic buttermilk pancakes, PB&J, and grilled cheese all for $5. Then for the hungry kids, they had a triple play option of funfetti pancakes, choice of meat and 2 cage-free eggs cooked to order for $6.

I, for sure, thought my daughter would go for the funfetti pancakes. But in a rare case of not being extra, she opted for the two classic buttermilk pancakes with extra syrup, of course. The sugar is always necessary. She typically goes with water, but this time wanted orange juice.

I’m uncertain if the pancakes she received are what is in the regular order, but it might as well have been. The fluffy pancakes came out warm and ready for her to dig in. I knew two would be too many, but she gave it her best shot. The first 10 minutes of breakfast was fairly quiet as she was totally focused on eating. She was a hungry girl, and HomeGrown satisfied that.

If she had one complaint throughout breakfast, it was that she wanted to sit next to me. I had her sit across from me and said, “She had to do it for the ‘Gram.”

She replied, “Grandma?”

I nodded my head and because she though ‘Gram meant grandma, she immediately wanted to sit across from me so she could please her grandmothers.
