The Results of the 5th Annual ICT Pickle Fest at reBorn Boutique & Marketplace at Blood Orchards

Judging Pickle Fest 2023

It was the fifth annual Pickle Fest event at Blood Orchard. The event was part of the southside food truck rally and vendor market that takes place around the beginning of June every year.

If you’ve never been to reBorn Boutique & Marketplace at Blood Orchard, they are located at 6346 S Broadway and are an orchard that sells and grows such items like peaches, apples, cherries, pumpkins and more. On Saturdays during the warmer weather, you’ll find food trucks. Occasionally, a food competition is mixed in. This month, the food trucks were tasked with coming up with a unique creation using pickles. Now, I LOVE PICKLES, so this event was right up my alley.

Here’s a brief overview

The Winners of Pickle Fest

After trying a handful of delicious pickle-themed items, we had to come up with two winners. Best Tasting Dish and Best Use of a Pickle.

The winner of best tasting dish between the panel of four judges was Cheezepanzee with their Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich with pickles on top.

The winner for Best Use of a Pickle was Big Granny’s with their mac & cheese with diced pickles inside and topped with a bacon wrapped jalapeno. This was actually my personal favorite dish of the day!

As usual, it was a ton of fun judging. Pickle Fest is one oft hose underrated events in town that I’ll definitely return to over and over. I even purchased some Pickle Fest merch to go along with all the pickles I ate that day.

I love this type of food competition, as it gives the owners a chance to show their creativity and put out dishes that wouldn’t regularly be found on their menu.

Be sure to check out the event calendar to see what fun food truck competition will be next at Blood Orchards.
