Ming’s Chinese Restaurant Review: Go Here Now!

There’s a Chinese restaurant that has been around for years and you need to try ASAP. It’s Ming’s Chinese Restaurant located at 1625 S. Seneca.

Yummmmmmm……

They are open from Wednesday  – Saturday 11:30 am to 9:30 pm and Sundays Noon to 8:30 pm. With such flexible hours, you have no reason not to try this place out. Ming’s specializes in an assortment of different Chinese and Cantonese flair. (menu shown at the bottom of this blog). This family owned restaurant is truly another gem in our city of great dining establishments.

While driving home from the airport a couple weeks ago, I had took a random turn on to Seneca just to see what random restaurant I could stop into and Mings has long been on my growing list of restaurants to try and I’m glad I made the stop.

The first thing Ming’s does when you are seated is bring you some pastry goodness rolled in cinnamon; delicious is the best word to use there.

For dinner, I ordered a salad with ginger dressing, hot and sour soup and their pepper steak meal. Throughout my entire visit, the staff was very accommodating, making sure I was always pleased, water was filled, just doing everything a restaurant should do to make sure their customers are happy.

My salad was great. I’m a huge fan of ginger dressing and theirs is a little thicker but still fantastic.

The hot and sour soup is truly something to behold. If you’re a fan of hot and sour soup, you will love the offering at Ming’s. For the longest time, I have felt the best hot and sour soup in Wichita could be found at Thai Tradition and Yen Ching which has since closed. Ming’s is right up there with some of the best hot and sour soup. The flavor of it just knocks you out of your seat. I was regretting not ordering a larger size of it on my visit but that just gives me another reason to go back.

Finally the pepper steak was incredibly good; much better and fresher than what you can find at your nearest Dillons, China Go or Great Wall. Its not overly salty either like many other Asian establishments.

Every single part of my meal was spot on. The service was top notch. I only have great things to say about Ming’s. Two thumbs up from me, four stars, 10 out of 10, what other rankings would you like?

If you’ve never been, add this place to your must stops immediately. I’ll be going back soon…..you should to.

Happy Dining,
Eddy

  1. I first started eating at Mings in the early 70s with my parents when I was a pre-teen and it was one of only a small handful of Chinese restaurants in town. It was only special occasions that we ever ate out and Mings was the place to go…there and Sidmans! I rediscovered it again several years ago and it is everything you say it is, nothing fancy, just damn good Chinese food and awesome family owned service. Like E.B. says…Go Here Now.
