Food Truck: Hopperoni Express Review

The journey to try as many food trucks in Wichita as possible took me over to Central Standard Brewing. They always have a food truck serving food out there and what a better way to try a food truck with some beer readily available?

That weekend Hopperoni Express was on hand serving out their wood fired pizzas. You may be familiar with them because they are owned and operated by Wichita Brewing Company.

They have their own food truck that serves pizza but unfortunately they don’t have beer.

You can follow their Facebook Page, advertised on their truck, to see where they are at but from the looks of things they haven’t updated their page since October 23, 2015 and it’s already Mid April 2016.

For the Saturday afternoon I was there, it took them a little while to set up but once they were up and going, people were lining up to order pizzas.

I took a snapshot of their menu and if you’ve gone to Wichita Brewing Company, it should all be familiar to you (click picture to zoom)

One of my favorite pizzas at Wichita Brewing Company is the Banick so that’s what I went with. I wanted to see how it compared to the regular location. I wasn’t too hungry so one pizza was enough to share with friends.

The Banick

Admittedly wait times for Hopperoni Express could take a while since they have to literally cook the pizza on hand and are at the mercy of their oven. I wish I took a picture of it but I was also curious as to whether their pizza oven was 100% truly all wood fire.

Regardless it took me about 15 minutes for my pizza to arrive. It came out piping hot with a lot of char on the crust. Personally I don’t mind the char at all.

How did it taste? Delicious……very delicious. Not sure if it was all the Central Standard Brewing beer talking but I would almost say it was better than what you could get at the actual WBC location.

There were plenty toppings on it with a good crispy crust layered with char, I didn’t complain at all and neither did any of my friends who tried a slice.

Overall I was very happy with what I got and would have ordered another pizza if I had any room inside my stomach.

For the value, this was certainly one of the best in comparing all food trucks. Eight dollars for a big delicious pizza is fantastic when you look at other food truck menus.

The only problem could be wait times depending on how busy they are……well that and they need to update their schedule of where they’ll be at on their social media sites.

Looks like another winner in the Food Truck trip around Wichita.

Happy Dining,
Eddy
