Moe’s Sub Shop Review – 29 Years of Deliciousness

Moe's Sub Shop

Hey Wise Guys, for 29 years Moe’s Sub Shop has been serving some of the best subs in town.

From the fresh bread to the loaded ingredients, Moe’s Sub Shop is your definition of a restaurant with history, character and great food. With just around 8 tables and a couple pinball machines, their walls are adorned with pictures of Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, old banners of sports teams and most importantly non-stop Three Stooges memorabilia everywhere. I remember watching the Three Stooges with my grandmother as a kid and later on mimicking their actions on my little brothers. Just gazing around at all the stuff brought back some great memories.

Moe’s Sub Shop is located in a small strip at 2815 S Hydraulic St. Open seven days a week from 11 am – 8 pm, they are a no frills sub shop that serves the basics from your smoked turkey to your roast beef to your pastrami. What they lack in those really fancy and creative creations you find at your national shops, they make up for in quality. It’s no frills and all delicious thrills.

Each sub comes in 7”, 10” and 14” options.

At the recommendation of the staff, I ordered the Ultimate while a friend ordered the Smoked Turkey. All Moes come with cheese, tomatoes, onions, peppers, pickles and black olives. We ordered everything they had to offer on there except for mine minus the cheese.

Services was quick and the staff was very nice. No complaints there.

The Ultimate Moe was and is the way to go if you ever stop by Moe’s. It was stuffed to the brim with as much meat and veggies as the bread could hold. The star of Moe’s though is really the bread. While it looks plain, it’s so soft and compliments the sub to perfection. It’s not so soft though that it gets all soggy and falls apart.

The Smokey Turkey was very good as well but compared to the Ultimate, you’ll regret ordering anything else.

The sides cost extra. The chips are simply just the small bags of chips you can buy at any store. My friend loves the macaroni salad there and gets it on every visit.

I was very happy to make the drive to south Hydraulic. Moe’s Sub Shop has been on my list of restaurants I need to try and finally made it out and can’t wait to return. It’s highly recommended for any foodie.

Character. Good Food. Great Prices. It’s the perfect combination.
