Stearman Field Bar and Grill Review

When the weather is nice, there’s nothing like finding a beautiful patio and just crashing there for hours with some cold beverages in hand and some food to snack on.

If you’re willing to make the drive to Benton, KS, you’ll find one of the best patios ever at Stearman Field Bar and Grill.

Stearman is located at 14789 SW 30th St in Benton, KS. They are open Sunday – Thursday 7 am – 9 pm and Friday and Saturday from 7 am – 10 pm.

What’s unique about Stearman is the airfield where people can watch planes come and go. It’s something people of all ages would love.

If you ever go to Stearman, they have inside seating available but the true experience of Stearman all happens inside in their big garage. In the garage, you’ll be kept cool thanks to their “Big Ass Fan”….. seriously that’s what its called.

There’s also a little playground for children to keep themselves occupied while waiting on planes.

The menu offered is your basic American bar staple filled with burgers, sandwiches, pizzas, fried foods and some other main staples liked meatloaf, country fried steak, steaks and some fish options. In the mornings from 7 – 11 am, they have breakfast available. While on the weekends they have a breakfast buffet from 8 am – 11:30 am.

When my friends and I went we tried a sampling of many different menu options.

The thoughts on the food ranged all over the board. The menu item that received the highest praise was the mac and cheese. When it came down to it, the food was your typical bar food offering that you’ll find at many different bars around town. Some thought the prices offered were higher than normal for the amount of food they got.

When it comes down to it, Stearman Field Bar and Grill is all about the experience. What they lack in really excellent food, they make up for in ambiance and service.

And if you really want the full experience of Stearman, you have the option of flying in one of their planes. For $89 – $299, you can fly for anywhere from 10-40 minutes. I offered to pay for my friend to fly in one because it was her birthday but was turned down immediately.
