First Look at Blaze Pizza: 180 seconds to fast fire’d perfection

Blaze Pizza opens their doors to the public on Thursday, September 14 but we have your first look inside on what to expect when you head towards the newest pizza spot in Wichita.

Let’s walk everyone through what it’s going to be like on their first visit…….minus the crazy lines!

Upon arriving, you will get in line at the north end of the building and get ready to order.

One of the first things you can order is a salad. The two options available on our visit were the classic Caesar and the arugula & fresh fruit. A side salad is $4.25 while an entree salad is $7.25.

After ordering a salad, you then decide your pizza. You can choose Signature Pizza for $8.25 which are predetermined creations, a 1 topping pizza for $6.65 or a Simple Pie of mozzarella, Parmesan and red sauce for $5.45.

If you’re feeling feisty, you can build your own pizza for $8.25.

You also have your choice of original dough or you can get a high-rise or gluten free for an additional $2.

Next up if you ordered a Build Your Own Pizza, you choose your sauces, cheeses, meats, veggies and finishes.

It doesn’t end yet there. There’s dessert! There are S’more pies, cookies and brownies at $2.25 each. They even heat it up in the wood stone oven to make sure it’s nice and warm for you.

After you pay, they will slide your creations into the wood stone oven that cooks your pizza at 800 degrees in 180 seconds.

That 180 seconds will give just enough time to grab a drink and grab a seat inside or on the patio. Keep in mind they have beer and wine. As for their cold drinks, their lemonades and agua frescas, were ridiculously good. Please try the blood orange lemonade if you have a chance.

Once your pizza is ready, they will call out your name to pick it up.

Build Your Own Creation

BBQ Chicken Pizza (chicken, mozarella, red onion, banana peppers, gorgonzola, bbq sauce drizzle)

Art Lover (artichokes, mozzarella, ricotta, garlic, red sauce dollops)

And the last pizza delivered was my build your own that I call the “Wichita By EB-zza”. It’s original dough, spicy red sauce, mozzarella, applewood bacon, turkey meatballs, pepperoni, banana peppers, green bell peppers, red peppers, pineapple, jalapeno, and sauteed onions.

Then it’s chow time.

Everyone loved their pizza. The crust had a very light char to the bottom. Many people may compare Blaze Pizza to a Pie Five and the crust at Blaze puts Pie Five to shame. In all actuality, their pizza puts Pie Five to shame.

The spicy red sauce was magnificent and loved by all. Two of the pizzas we ordered had it and were finished close to 180 seconds…..ok so maybe not that quick but quick enough. The topping quality was superb as well. My brother and sister-in-law had the signature pizzas. They loved the red sauce dollops on the Art Lover. It had a sweet undertone to it and complimented the ingredients well.

Oh wait, we forgot….desserts! The big winner of the three were the cookies. Topped with sea salt, it was just what we needed to complete our meal. We actually went back for seconds on the cookies. My one year old nephew loved it so much, he decided to wear it all over his face and shirt.

Overall it was a big time win for Blaze Pizza and one that could do very well in the Wichita market. They are quick, convenient and affordable. Three great traits for any restaurant.

The Greenwich area has really grown over the past year. There have been many new restaurants with some of them being mediocre restaurants. We think it’s safe to say that Blaze Pizza is going to knock it out of the park with this concept and is a welcome addition to the area.

Their official opening is Thursday, September 14. The big day is Friday, September 15 when it’s free pizza day! They are expecting big lines on Friday.

We all know Wichita loves new restaurants. So if you’re worried about waiting in line after all the craze, you can order their pizza online or thru their app and just pick it up when it’s ready. It’s convenient, it’s easy, it’s free to do!

Lastly, I spoke to the owner and they are looking at a West side location and hope to have something locked down soon as well.

Until then, enjoy Blaze Pizza. I’ll be going back again soon to see how the customer service and quality holds up over time. Stay tuned to this blog for more updates.

Happy Dining,
Eddy
