Earlier this year, we did a review on Tacos Mexican Fast Food that was located on south Seneca. While driving around town, we spotted another Tacos Mexican Fast Food on east Pawnee. The signs looked similar, the menus looked the same but we weren’t sure if they were the same owners. So what did we do? We stopped in for a food review to see how another small 24 hour hole in the wall fared for tacos.

The menu available at Tacos Mexican Fast Food is very similar to ones you’ll find at other late night or 24 hour Mexican restaurants. There’s tacos, burritos, enchiladas, breakfast plates, tortas, quesadillas, etc.
On top of many traditional items, there’s $2.75 Bud Light bottles and $3 Coronas.
Admittedly this is a place my friends and I have been to multiple times years ago in our younger years while looking for a 2am snack. The burritos were a popular choice for us. So this was probably the first time I can recall going here without any liquid courage.
We opted for an assortment of tacos ranging from al pastor to barbacoa to lengua to tripas to carnitas and a couple burritos.
Service was quick even given how busy they were during dinner time.
Of all the tacos, we really loved their carne asada and al pastor were excellent. Taco shells were filled to the brim and three tacos would be enough to satisfy anybody. The biggest gripe was in the lengua tacos. After reading more about Mexican restaurants, it looks as though some restaurants opt to cook all parts of the cow tongue while some cut out the fatty parts. At Tacos Mexican Fast Food, it was all of the tongue which left for an extremely fatty taco and burrito as well.
In the burritos, there are a ton of onions stuffed inside so a lengua burrito’s texture was mostly fat and onions. It wasn’t the best. But if you ordered a carne asada taco, your experience would have been much better as was the case with my friend.
Overall it was a no frills typical Mexican restaurant that’s similar to others on the south side of town. Outside of the lengua, there wasn’t anything we disliked. At the same time, they don’t have anything really that sets them apart from the competition.
Happy Dining,
Eddy
