Wichita, you can get excited!
Cocoa Dolce Chocolates opens their doors to the public on Friday, December 8 at 8am. For those people who had to make the long drive out to the east location at Bradley Fair, a second location gives you another destination to choose from.
The new west side location provides much of the same of the original but at the same time improves on many areas like the ambiance. With nearly double the space, it allows Cocoa Dolce fans more area to relax over some delicious treats or a glass of wine. Located in the former Sports Time Fan Shop at New Market, you’re going to feel an instant feel of relaxation and warmth as you walk in the newly renovated chocolate shop.

When you step inside for your first time, the spacious and cozy environment is the first thing you’ll notice. But immediately your senses will turn directly to the chocolates.
Along the walls are the gifts boxes and pre-selected boxed collections you can choose from. The staff at Cocoa Dolce redesigned the boxes and created more variety packs. These are a big help for someone like me who gets completely overwhelmed when having to choose which chocolates I want. It’s like a couple arguing over where to eat, you’re better off just letting someone else choose for you and that’s what I like about the gift boxes. I don’t need a say in the matter.
If you’re brave soul, then you can always choose what you want yourself. Just be aware, it’s a lot. So many great options and you just end up wanting all of them. If you’re wanting a couple suggestions on what I like, two stick out for me: Cocoa d’Or (75% bittersweet Tanzanian chocolate ganache enrobed with edible gold) & Salted Caramel (Fresh caramel infused in a dark milk ganache with a pinch of Fleur de Sel).
I actually had a chance to speak with Cocoa Dolce’s Chocolatier. For those that don’t know what that is (quick secret: I had to look it up), chocolatier makes confectionery from chocolate. This is completely different than a chocolate maker. I was amazed to learn that she makes thousands of pieces of chocolate on a daily basis. The hard work and long hours that go behind these delicious treats is something I bet a huge majority of people don’t even think about. I learned quite a bit about chocolate right down to how to properly eat these chocolates. Two bites folks, don’t just pop the entire piece in your mouth. Originally I would go all caveman style but now I feel so refined with the two bite process. My mother would be so proud!
Of course there are cakeballs, cookies, scones, brownies, cheesecake, and macarons to choose from. If you love red velvet, you have to try the red velvet cookie. I’m beating myself up for not bringing some home right now.
And like any good infomercial, “But wait, there’s more!”
Gelato! There’s currently twelve flavors to choose from and soon they will be doubling their offerings to twenty-four. If you’re feeling frisky, the wine slushies are also available to turn the gelato into a nice cool adult beverage.
Cocoa Dolce won’t leave you thirsty either. They have an expanded drink station to allow the staff more room to operate. They have it all from the aforementioned wine slushies to wine to coffee to mocha to the signature hot chocolate.
If you think about the places out west, there aren’t too many places for a person to order a glass of wine and just find a comfortable spot and relax. That could very well be Cocoa Dolce’s niche for west Wichita. It could even get better in the summer. They have a garage door that will open up. While it’s not complete yet, they will soon have an enclosed patio space and the garage door open during the warmer weather. That’s something else to look forward to as Cocoa Dolce continues to grow.
There’s a lot to be excited about for New Market’s newest tenant. The people behind Cocoa Dolce Chocolates put a lot of hard work into this new location and it really shows with the beauty and design of it all. West-siders are extremely lucky to have this be a new staple just in time for the holidays. If you’re shopping for a special gift just be sure you don’t end up making the same mistake as me and end up leaving with items just for yourself.
Check out Wichita’s newest chocolate shop, I’m sure you’ll love it.
Happy Dining,
Eddy
