Mark Arts public grand opening set for this weekend

Mark Arts

Looking for something to do this Saturday for you and the family? I encourage you all to stop by Saturday, January 6 that’s free for everybody to swing by between 10am and 3pm to Mark Arts.

Mark Arts, formerly known as The Wichita Center for the Arts, opens at its new location at 1307 N. Rock Road. As stated earlier, this event is free to the public. I’ve had a chance to check out the new space and it truly is amazing. After being on east Central for so long, they outgrew their space and needed a new home. Thanks in part to a donation by the Charles Koch Foundation, the Mary R. Koch Arts Center (or Mark Arts for short) was born.

When people think art center, they may just envision walking around a building staring at art work and sculptures. This is beyond that. There is a digital art studio that includes new computers for graphic design, photography and web design. An education commons and areas for students from all age groups of different art disciplines to gather. There’s an event space that’s perfect for corporate meetings, weddings, parties and any other events. Then there is my favorite: the culinary art studio featuring an industrial grade kitchen equipped to host cooking classes.

They are working on putting together a class schedule or you can even sign up for a cooking class with you and your friends, family, or co-workers.

All of this will be on display this Saturday. I’ll be on hand, my friends will be there, co-workers will be there. Why not you?

Come stop by and say hi!
