Red Lobster’s Crispy Lobster and Waffles – Yes, that’s a thing!

Red Lobster

Red Lobster is joining in the fun of creating odd combinations of popular meals in hopes of luring more customers in the door. Their latest limited time menu item includes one fried lobster tail and a waffle made from their famous Cheddar Bay biscuits.

Many of you have had chicken and waffles before so switching it up with lobster was highly intriguing to me. When I first heard about it, I was at Red Lobster within 24 hours. For those that know me, I’m a huge sucker for things like this. My curiosity is always easily peaked. It’s been YEEEAAAAARRRRSSS since I’ve last gone to Red Lobster and was shocked at how busy the place was when I stopped in at 5:30pm of all times.

For $19.99, you get the lobster and waffles served with one side or salad. If you’re wondering the meal runs 1080 calories.

Going into the meal, I already knew in advance that the waffle would make or break the meal. Unfortunately, it was a huge deal breaker for me as the waffle just wasn’t good at all. It was dry and had a burnt taste to it. Had I not looked at the menu, I wouldn’t have even known it was supposed to be a Cheddar Bay biscuit waffle because there wasn’t even a hint of that flavor in the waffle. To put it bluntly, it was the worst waffle I’ve ever had in my life.

Adding in the fried lobster and syrup it was just an odd combination that left me underwhelmed and unsatisfied. The syrup really took away from fried batter used on the lobster as well. Having paid twenty dollars for this meal, I debated with myself whether to even finish the meal or let it go to waste.

But trying to find one glimmer of hope and something positive to write about, I told myself there was one good thing. I spent $20 to eat the biscuits which were as good as I recall.

This is available at all Red Lobsters for a limited time. They haven’t announced for how long though.

Should you try this? I would probably tell you a hard “No!” but from judging from the comments I’ve ready from people, you all probably already knew that. I’m a guy; I like to make mistakes.

Happy Dining,
Eddy
