You may have seen the sign while driving down Rock Road near 21st street: RAMEN $4.99.
That’s right, ramen for just $4.99. I stopped in recently to see what the deal entailed and whether it was worth it. For $4.99, you get their basic ramen with no meat and no eggs. There’s the option of ordering regular spicy, very spicy or extreme spicy. If you need the egg, it’s 50 cents extra. You can also just pay an additional two to four dollars to add chicken, vegetables, beef, shrimp or seafood. For the purposes of this visit, I opted just for the $4.99 ramen.
It didn’t take long to receive my ramen and during the wait, GangNam Kitchen gives you complimentary kimchi.
I wasn’t expecting earth shattering ramen at that price and you shouldn’t either. I’m not going to lie to you, it’s not the best ramen you can find in town. But if your expectation is a decent affordable meal, then this could be for you. I’m a carnivore and prefer some meat in my ramen so it was a big change of pace from what I’m use to.
Would I spend the extra few bucks to order beef the next time? Probably. This could be a good option for vegetarians though.
If anything, the service here has always been nice, quick and friendly. The people working there are usually what keeps me coming back.
