A visual guide to Bella Luna’s delicious food

There are times I’ll receive e-mails like “what is your favorite (insert food type) in town?”. I try not to give any political answers and will shoot people straight on what my favorites are or give recommendations if I can’t decide on a single one. When it comes to Mediterranean food though, I have one particular favorite that sticks out among the rest of the competition and that’s Bella Luna. That doesn’t mean some of the other places aren’t good as there are plenty of other delicious options in town. But for me when I’m craving Mediterranean food, my go to is Bella Luna.

On a recent visit to Bella Luna, my friends and I stopped by the Bella Luna location to grab a group dinner and just got through the menu. For some of my friends, many of the items we tried were brand new to them. I try to encourage folks to always order something new at a restaurant as they’ll never know what else they might like. This venture was a perfect example of that.

Here’s a visual guide to our entire dinner complete with pictures and description. Enjoy the pictures! Let’s start with our appetizers. A few years back, my friends and I tried hummus from 15 establishment around town. I gathered everybody in a room and we did a blind taste test. Bella Luna ended up being voted the best of the 15 places.

Next up, salads! The fattoush is obviously a very popular option and ordered by everybody but if you’ve never tried the Bella Maggi house salad, you must give this a try! It’s my favorite of all the salads at Bella Luna.

From upper left hand corner and around it was:

Baby Spinach (upper left): fresh spinach leaves with Gargonzola, pecans, roasted peppers and pomegranate vinaigrette.
Greek (upper right): Mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, pimentos, feta, Kalamata olives, and creamy cracked pepper dressing.
Caesar (center): Heart of romaine, shaved Parmesan, and homemade Caesar dressing
Bella Maggi House (lower right): Crisp house salad with artichokes, tomatoes, pecans, Parmesan and house balsamic dressing.
Fattouch (lower left): Mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, parsley, pimentos, and zaatar pita chips in a tangy vinaigrette.

We still managed to find room for the entrees. There were so many great options to choose from.

One thing I must note is their filet is one of the more underrated items on the menu. Most people don’t even know they have it. Of all the dishes we tried, this was gone the quickest. You have one of the most tender filets served with a mushroom sauce that literally just melts in your mouth: easily my favorite of all the entrees we tried.

For my friends, they LOVED the roasted airline chicken. It was their first time trying it and loved the herb butter flavor of the chicken. They all said it was something they would recommend to anybody. As a fan of seafood, I really enjoyed the seafood trio. You get shrimp, scallops, crab, and mussels all sitting in a flavorful lobster cream sauce. The pork chops were also another dish, my friends weren’t aware about and said that would have been something their husbands would enjoy easily.

Honestly there wasn’t a dish we didn’t approve of.

We all have our favorites at any restaurant. At Bella Luna, many people probably order the Chicken Shawarmah for instance but if you really venture out and try some more things, I’m telling you, you’ll be surprised at what else you’ll find. My friends were extremely impressed with the many different dishes they were able to try.

They have long been one of my favorite restaurants in town. A place perfect for a family outing, a date, a work dinner/lunch especially with a separate dining room you can reserve. If you’ve never been, you’re missing out!

Don’t forget to like Bella Luna onĀ Facebook.

Happy Dining,
Eddy
