Last year we wrote about Sorrel Jamaican Foods which was a food truck that specialized in, you guessed it…… Jamaican food.
I’ve been recommending the truck to many people over the past few months and it appears they are no longer operating as a truck. Over the past couple months, they’ve been focusing their energy on opening up a restaurant. Yesterday they posted on their Facebook page that they are now open.
The new location for Sorrel’s Jamaican Food is at 2808 E Douglas Ave which is the old Design District Salon and Spa. I stopped by yesterday to check them out and things appear to be a work in progress still. It’s only one bench for outdoor seating so you’ll likely want to order to go and their menus have not arrived yet. Make sure to bring cash. They do accept cards but it wasn’t working on my visit.
Yesterday, all they had left was jerk chicken, jerk pork and chicken stew. Of those items, I’ve never had their chicken stew before so went with that. To no surprise, the meal was delicious, filling and full of flavor. The chicken came off the bone with ease. I look forward to their menu coming out because I really want to try other Jamaican offerings that I’ve never had before. We will keep you up to date when that comes out.
Sorrel’s Jamaican Food is open daily from 10am – 10pm except for Saturdays when they are closed. Be sure to like them on Facebook to stay up to date.
Sorrel’s will be missed in the food truck scene Wichita. We’ve since updated our Guide to Wichita Food Trucks which you can view here to see what all trucks are still in town.
Happy Dining,
Eddy
